Blue Sky worked with Austube Schréder on the industrial design of RIZON, a premium architectural linear lighting system that combines refined aesthetics, innovative functionality and high-performance illumination.

The design approach focused on creating a clean, contemporary and timeless architectural aesthetic while addressing the practical requirements of installation, assembly, maintenance and manufacturing. A family of carefully proportioned aluminium profiles establishes a consistent design language across a range of surface-mounted, suspended and recessed configurations, allowing the system to integrate seamlessly into a variety of architectural environments.

A key focus of the design was simplifying installation and improving the overall user experience for installers and maintenance personnel. The innovative SnapCore connection system was developed to enable multiple luminaires to be joined quickly and accurately without removing the internal gear trays, reducing installation time while maintaining clean, precise connections. Spring-mounted endplates provide easy access to the diffusers, while modular, replaceable internal components support straightforward maintenance and extended product life.

Throughout the design development, careful consideration was given to component integration, material selection, manufacturing processes and assembly methods. The resulting design balances visual simplicity with functional innovation, ensuring that the technical complexity of the lighting system is seamlessly integrated within a refined architectural form.

Sustainability was also a key design consideration, with durable materials, modular construction and replaceable components supporting a longer product lifecycle and reducing unnecessary waste. Designed and manufactured in Australia, RIZON demonstrates how thoughtful design can deliver a sophisticated, practical and enduring architectural lighting solution.
